Notes from the Journey
Hi there, as you know im now 5 months into what has been my relocation to Europe. Im undergoing a program of studies at SAE school of audio engineering that is doing pretty well. Even tho this has been the very main reason of my trip to this side of the world, life once again bless me with much more than i ever expected and this 2011 summer has proven to be one of the best of my life.
First i would like to talk about what has been my experience in the city of Barcelona, where i’ve met many interesting people of diverse backgrounds in life. It find it to be a really pleasing city to live in , even tho it doesn’t has any deep or soulful house scene at all. Who cares, i see it as element of change for me to undergo other endevaours and that’s exactly what im doing.
The highlight of this summer without any doubt has to be my very first visit to Greece as a performer. I played there 3 times (some say it was 4 times hahaha…shhhh
and to be honest the experience was very overwhelming anywhere i went. Zakynthos,Porto Rafti and Santorin proved to be very welcoming of my vibe and the people there leaved a strong impresion on me on how much they love this music that we all love. I think it was clearly one of my best moment of career so Greece im very glad for the support and to all the people came out to support. After the gigs I made a little detour of my own to meet friends in another beautiful place called patras… i’ve lived magical moments there that changed my life …<3
Back to Barcelona, i just had a few days to chill out as a up and coming and very talented singer from madrid hired me for some production work of her first debut album. Had a really nice time in madrid, doing fantastic music at the mountains (la sierra) and also in downtown madrid. Glad to have connected again with my homies Nacho Larache, Jose of BlackBook Sessions and some other beautiful people, we had a little throw at sala juglar on saturday, the vibe was really nice and loved the people dancing to soul, funk and good disco. Back to the music production thing im really loving the direction of this girl’s album is kinda what i’ve been willing to get into, R&B, Soul, Jazz… things that have been my core for a long time even before house and that are resurfacing again.
So let’s speak of house music, there is some exciting proyects coming my way. On the remix tip, im about to start remixing some fantastic work from the people of Kyoto Jazz Massive, and also in the talks for proyects with Tribe Records and Foliage, 2 of the most active and dynamic labels right now. I have to add that last month i completed a new remix for my now good friend Ralf Gum and his label GOGO music. It is for a artist called MAQman , i’ve never heard of him but the vocal he was able to craft caught my atention. so kudos for that. Also, i had the honor to be included in the selected group of producers that is behind the one and only Nathan Adams (Tribe Records) debut album, once again… doing something else that is not house. I think destiny is ringing a bell…what do you guys think? Anyway this collabo really tighten up things with the people of Tribe and i hope we can get down to interesting projects in the future.
Now let’s talk about my fam in the United States, Ocha Records. As you know this label was quintessential for my development into the house scene and I did an album last year called “Secreto” Well, there are some remix work that is about to unfold for that project, from very well known and respected artist around the Globe. Names like Ian Friday, Daz-I-Kue, Eddy Meets Yannah, and some others form part of the “Secreto: Remixed” from what i heard, there is a third single coming out wich it will be “Flores Blancas” including a remix from Daz-I-Kue and it will come out on vinyl really soon.
There is a classic question they ask me everywhere i go… “and after here where will you go” lol! most of the time i don’t know, of course there are plans but i try to live for the moment, focused on where i am and living to the fullest with the persons im blessed to join along the journey. But yea… there are some interesting destinations marked on my fall/winter calendar for gigs and performance. Did somebody said Greece??
so soon, again? well let’s see its up to the family there to decide, but im willing. Next up for me is Paris (october) with my main man Zepherin Saint and then December kicks in with incredible christmas gift for me as i will be visiting JAPAN!!! for the first time… that’s right, more details as we move into these dates, but it has been confirmed so here i go, BANZAI!!!
So everything is on the up and up… just loving life, learning from nature and the universe, creating and allowing life to create on me a better being. Enjoying the new landscapes of harmony and balanced energy around me. So that’s pretty much it for now…Wherever you are, wish you a terrific day and thank you for spending some time checkin out upon the lastest bits of my adventures in life.
Greetings from Barcelona
Ezel
